Site Logistics Manager

We are looking for a Site Logistics Manager (SLM) to fill one of the key positions on our project located in Saint-Nazaire, near Nantes, France, with an expected duration of 25–30 months.

Within an EPCM environment, the SLM will have the following main responsibilities:

  1. Site Logistics Planning

    1. Develop, implement and continuously update the Site Logistics Plan.

    2. Define access routes, traffic flows, delivery routes, unloading areas, laydown areas, storage areas, parking, temporary facilities and waste areas.

    3. Adapt the logistics arrangements as construction progresses and different work fronts become active.

  2. Material and Equipment Deliveries

    1. Plan and coordinate the arrival of materials, equipment and construction supplies to site.

    2. Coordinate delivery dates and time slots with Procurement, Construction, contractors and suppliers.

    3. Avoid congestion, conflicting deliveries and unnecessary material accumulation on site.

    4. Coordinate exceptional or oversized deliveries, including cranes and special transport where applicable.

  3. Site Access and Traffic Management

    1. Manage vehicle and pedestrian circulation within the site.

    2. Establish and maintain traffic management plans, delivery routes and access restrictions.

    3. Coordinate access for trucks, mobile cranes, lifting equipment and construction machinery.

    4. Ensure segregation between pedestrians and vehicles wherever practicable.

    5. Ensure segregation and coordination between plant operations traffic and works traffic.

    6. Coordinate closely with the EHS team regarding traffic and logistics-related safety measures.

  4. Laydown and Storage Area Management

    1. Allocate and control laydown, storage and staging areas for the different contractors.

    2. Optimize the use of limited site space.

    3. Maintain visibility of where major equipment and materials are stored.

    4. Prevent contractors from occupying areas required by other contractors or future construction activities.

  5. Interface Management between Contractors

    1. Coordinate logistics requirements across the different construction contractors.

    2. Resolve conflicts related to access, storage, lifting areas, temporary roads, unloading areas and shared facilities.

    3. Ensure that individual contractors' logistics activities are compatible with the overall construction plan.

  6. Coordination with Construction Planning

    1. Work closely with the Construction Manager and Planner to align logistics activities with the construction schedule.

    2. Anticipate upcoming requirements for large deliveries, heavy lifting, shutdowns, restricted-access areas and critical construction activities.

    3. Identify potential logistics constraints that could affect the construction schedule.

  7. Lifting and Heavy Logistics Coordination

    1. Coordinate, from the overall site-logistics perspective, major crane movements, heavy equipment deliveries and exceptional transport.

    2. Define crane access and positioning areas together with Construction and the relevant contractors.

    3. Coordinate conflicting lifting activities and common lifting areas.

    4. Ensure logistics interfaces are considered in major lifting plans.

Candidate Profile

  1. University degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.

  2. Minimum 15 years of experience in Site Logistics Management on major capital investment projects (CAPEX above €100 million) in sectors such as industrial facilities, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, etc., with proven experience in multi-contractor environments (EPCM/EPC) and complex construction sites, including both brownfield and greenfield projects.

  3. Experience working under an EPCM governance model, PMC (Project Management Consultancy) model, or representing the end Client, with strong knowledge of planning and schedule control, document control, risk management and project reporting.

  4. Excellent teamwork skills and proven technical expertise, with the ability to work autonomously and contribute innovative solutions.

  5. Advanced proficiency in French, minimum C1 level and preferably native or near-native, as well as English, minimum C1 level.

  6. Reference letters from previous Clients will be highly valued.
